Bridge Building Contest

This year Notre Dame's annual Bridge Building Contest will be held on Tuesday May 6. This contest has been going strong for the last 28 years with great success. The contest is designed for both physic 11 and 12 students to use physics principles in order to build a bridge out of balsa wood. The focus of this contest is to build the strongest bridge out of Balsa Wood while following the contest rules. The all time record holder, Matt Sullivan, contstructed a bridge which held 209.4kg ( 461 lbs). Nobody so far has come close to breaking this record, yet students try every year.
